Global Disaster Bucket Projects
—Nationwide

Baby Care Buckets are provided to families who have children from ages birth to 9 months. These buckets contain items that are needed immediately, and when disasters strike, the chaos makes it difficult for parents to provide these items for their infants.

A Baby Care Bucket includes the following items for infants to 3 months:

  • 1 new 5 gallon bucket with lid
  • 1 package Size One disposable diapers
  • 1 package baby wet wipes
  • 1 can powdered regular baby formula
  • 1 gallon drinking water for mixing formula
  • 2 plastic bottles and nipples with disposable inserts
  • 1 box disposable bottle inserts
  • 1 small box baby cereal
  • 1 small baby spoon and small bowl for mixing cereal
  • 1 "Mam" Pacifier (this brand is most widely used)
  • 1 tube of A & D Ointment or Desitin
  • 1 bottle baby lotion
  • 1 bottle baby shampoo
  • 1 bottle liquid baby bath soap
  • 1 bottle sunscreen (age appropriate)
  • 1 baby rectal thermometer
  • 1 Baby towel and 1 washcloth
  • 1 package "Onesies" - 3 month size
  • 1 package socks
  • 1 pair lightweight pajamas suitable for either boy or girl - 3 month size
  • 2 receiving blankets
  • 1 small stuffed animal
  • 1 baby comb and brush set
  • 1 set baby nail clippers

Again, you are welcome to include anything else that you believe will benefit a baby of this age. However everything has to fit in the bucket and the lid must be securely fastened.

For infants 3 to 6 months, please include the same items, except pajamas should be 6 month size and the socks also need to be age appropriate. You might also want to provide a light-weight, crib-size blanket in place of the two receiving blankets. You might also want to include an age-appropriate toy and a few jars of mixed meats & vegetables.

For infants 6 to 9 months, include size 2 disposable diapers and pajamas in a 9 month size and socks need to be age appropriate. A light-weight crib blanket should replace the receiving blankets. You might also want to include an age-appropriate thermometer, toy, a few jars of mixed meats and vegetables, and some finger foods.

If you wish, you might want to include a $10 gift card to Walmart, Target, K-Mart or other national chain store. This would allow the parents to purchase other items of need for their infant. If you include a gift card, please be sure it is on top of the items.

Again, if you live near Global Assist Network's home office, these buckets can be made up and delivered to our warehouse.

However, if you do NOT live near our home office, we invite you to provide Global Assist Network with a check for $75 to cover the cost of the above Baby Bucket items. Volunteers will purchase the items and put together the bucket for you at our warehouse.

Along with your check, please send a short letter/note in a separate envelope that we will include in your buck for the recipient of the bucket. Please include your name and city and state. If you wish to include your mailing address, that is up to you. There are times when the recipients have written to those who provided them with the baby care items. However, a letter/note from you to the family or individual who is dealing with tragedy and loss lets them know that someone they don't even know wants to assist them in their time of need.

If you would like to provide funds for one or more Baby Buckets, you can either DONATE NOW, or send your check, along with your note to the recipient, to
