Global Assist Network has begun building a database of information that they expect will be a very complete listing of organizations that provide help and hope to people in nations around the world. Although there are several organizational databases with partial information, GAN is endeavoring to merge the information into one database, keeping it updated on a regular basis, and making it available to particiapting organizations.
"We believe that we need this database to accomplish part of the mission of GAN. . . to network organizations together to work more effectively and efficiently, best using the resources we are provided to touch more people in need," said Alex Scott, a director for Global Assist Network. "Our goal is to become a clearing house for information regarding compassion and relief work that is being done around the world."
"Working to build a complete database of contacts and information about the work each organization is doing country by country will enable us to better network organizations with others who are involved in the same countries, doing much the same type of work. Working together is good stewardship and accomplishes much, much more for less," Scott noted.
Organizations who want to be included in this database are invited to contact us for further information. As the database is built, participating organizations will receive updates on a regular basis.
"We want to encourage all Christian organizations who work in other nations, as well as those who are working here in the USA to touch needy people, to join in this emerging network," Scott stated. "Building this database is a large task, but we believe it will be very worthwhile for Christian organizations that work full-time in nations around the world." |
